One defeat in the last 18 league matches! Eagles’ Chiyangi targets a league & cup double

Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi is targeting both the Zambian Super League and Absa Cup.

Following Tuesday’s Absa Cup quarter final draw against Zesco United, Chiyangi has retaliated his desire to win silverware at Eagles.

Green Eagles are currently second on the Zambian Super League log on 45 points and have only suffered one defeat in the last 18 matches.

Despite being at the helm for close to five years at the Choma based side, Chiyangi is yet to win either the league or Absa Cup.

Since he took over in 2017, the 57 year old has transformed the club into a top four side, and subsequently qualifying for continental football.

“As you know, Eagles have never won any silverware. So this year we are targeting both the Super League and Absa Cup,” the Power Dynamos and Zambia legend told the Zambia Daily Mail.

In 2019, Eagles came close to winning the league but lost to Zesco United

This weekend, second placed Eagles will be away in Ndola against Indeni in the league.

Thereafter, Tonka twende will have back to back games against Zesco United, starting with an Absa Cup tie at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium.

They will then host the Ndola side in Choma just before the international break.

“It’s going to be an interesting game as you know, all games against Zesco United are interesting.

“After the Absa Cup quarter final, our next league game will be against Zesco United. It will be interesting.
