NUTRITION TO IMPROVE FOR THE COUNTRY

By Mwila Nsofu:The National Food and Nutrition Commission -NFNC -says it hopes to prioritise nutrition improvement across the country by 2026.Nutrition Commission Acting Executive Director, Musonda Mofu says the commission has so far, produced a detailed assessment of over 2 hundred food types and their nutrition composition which is key in improving the countries nutrition status.Mr. Mofu was speaking before signing a Memorandum of Understanding- MoU- with ZNBC’s Director General Richard Mwanza at ZNBC.And, Mr. Mofu said the partnership between ZNBC, and the commission will help ZNBC disseminate information on what actions need to be undertaken by households and communities in order to improve nutrition.He has pledged the commissions support to ZNBC to contribute to the attainment of the nutrition goals and targets that Government has set.Meanwhile, Mr. Mwanza says ZNBC is strategically positioned to disseminate nutrition information and in turn save life.He says the national broadcaster is ready to produce tailor made programmes and called on the nutrition commission to utilise ZNBC’s Radio One department to produce content as it has over 11 million listeners and viewers .Mr. Mwanza said the partnership between ZNBC, and the Nutritional Food and Nutrition Commission will ensure information on the nutrition is disseminated to all.
