“NO MYSTERY DISEASE IN KALABO”

Government says there is no mysterious disease that has broken out in Kalabo district – Western Province.
Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya says there is even no death that has been recorded by hospital authorities in the district due to the alleged disease locally called ‘pulamutwe’.
Dr Chilufya was responding to questions for oral answer in Parliament from Kalabo Central Member of Parliament Chinga Miyutu who asked whether the Government is aware that a mysterious disease commonly referred to as Pulamutwe which causes severe headaches
as broken out in Kalabo District.
Mr Miyutu had also asked the minister if it is true that the disease has allegedly claimed two lives so far, with four people undergoing treatment.
Dr Chilufya said one of the deaths recorded last month was caused by a stroke.
He said government is dispatching a team of health personnel to go into Kalabo and establish the reports.
