Nkana Queens record first win of the season

Nkana Queens 3-1 Solwezi Academy Queens (Charity Mubanga x2, Agnes | Matildah Choongo)

Copperbelt based FAZ Women’s National League side Nkana Queens this afternoon recorded their first victory of the season after beating Solwezi Academy Queens 3-1 in a match week 11 played at Nkana Annex Ground.

A brace from Charity Mubanga and a goal from Agnes secured maximum points for the Kalampa Ladies.

Nkana went into this match knowing very well what was at stake and knew it was not going to be easy as they lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture away in Solwezi

Before this match, Nkana had only managed 2 points so far this season while Solwezi was 2 points above Nkana.

Nkana’s prolific goal poacher Charity Mubanga opened the scores for Kalampa Queens with an early goal in the 5th minute but Matilda Choongo equalized for Solwezi Academy to make it 1-1 in the 26th minute.

Mubanga was at it again scoring a second goal for Nkana just before the halftime mark in the 38th minute to make it 2-1 for the home side going into the break.

After resumption, Agnes added the icing on the cake with a third goal of the match to seal an excellent 3-1 victory.

Nkana have now leapfrogged both Solwezi and Mufulira Wanderers with a point above them and moved to 7th position on the table with 5 points.

Nkana’s next assignment is a stern task against unbeaten Green Buffaloes Women Football Club in Lusaka on Sunday while Solwezi Academy will host Police Dove Queens on the same day in a fierce Solwezi Derby which is expected to produce some sparks in terms of bragging rights.
