NHCC URGED TO DOCUMENT FEMALE ACHIEVERS

By Christabel Lumingu:Tourism and Arts Minister Ronald Chitotela has challenged the National Heritage Conservation Commission -NHCC -to consider documenting female academic achievers in a quest to enhance tourism diversification.Mr. Chitotela says documenting females, who have excelled in different professions among them first female pilots, in heritage sites will adversely attract more revenue for economic growth.He says the move will also inspire young girls to excel in academics and play as tourism ambassadors.Mr. Chitotela was speaking during the Launch of the Heritage Policy Strategic Plan in Lusaka.He noted that the strategic policy plan will help provide a strategic direction in preserving national heritage for the benefit of the Nation.Mr. Chitotela however, reiterated his call for unity among Zambians if the country is attract more tourists and investors for economic growth.Meanwhile, National Heritage Conservation Commission -NHCC-Executive Director Collins Chipote said there is need to protect all heritage sites for the country to yield the desired benefits.Mr. Chipote said the country is endowed with a number of natural resources which need to be protected by all zambians.And NHCC Board Chairperson Imasiku Nyambe expressed gratitude to the ministry for it’s continued support to the commission.He said the commission will ensure that all natural resources are protected in order to safeguard the country’s heritage.
