NEW MOPANI BOARD GETS DOWN TO WORK

Mines Permanent Secretary Barnaby Mulenga says Government will take advantage of the lucrative copper prices on the international market to ramp-up production at Mopani Copper Mines.

Mr. Mulenga says authorities are positive that the acquisition of the mine through ZCCM-IH from Glencore will yield positive results for the country.

The Mines PS was speaking in Mufulira this afternoon after touring Mopani Copper Mines, in the company of the new board of directors who will be inducted tomorrow.

He has assured the nation that Mopani will run better and profitably under the auspices of ZCCM-IH.

And Mopani Copper Mines Chief Executive Officer Charles Sakanya said morale among the workforce is high following the acquisition of the mine by Government through ZCCM-IH.
