NEW DAWN TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC SIDE OF SPORT

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his administration will advance the economic side of talent in sports so that it can contribute to the country’s economic transformation.

President HICHILEMA says various sporting disciplines should be supported because they have potential to not only contribute to the country’s social economic development but also fight poverty.

He says sports is a huge business that should be promoted so that sports men and women can accrue substantial income like is seen in other countries.

President HICHILEMA notes that apart from sports improving the wellbeing of the people, it is also a tool that can be used to reunite the country which he said is part of his agenda.

The head of state said this during the 22nd intercompany relay which is held under the theme building a strong and healthier Zambia .

He also stated that Government will support the sporting industry and assured young athletes that Government in it’s 2023 budget will procure them equipment that will enhance their training.

And the head of state said for Government to attain economic transformation, there is need for a healthier nation that is fully vaccinated against Covid 19.

And Zambia Athletics President ELIAS MPONDELA thanked President HICHILEMA for attending and participating at the relay saying his presence is testimony of he’s commitment to helping the country build a healthy lifestyle which is prerequisite to enhance p
oductivity.

Meanwhile, Madison financial services Group Chairman Lawrence SIKUTWA said it is important that the private sector supports Governments efforts aimed at ensuring a holistic well being of CITIZEN.
