Ndola records one cholera death

A woman of Mushili township has become the first person in Ndola to die from cholera since the outbreak started last year.

The Ndola City Council confirmed in a statement yesterday that the victim was brought in dead at Ndola Teaching Hospital.

Medical practitioners conducted a rapid test which tested positive for vibrio cholerae.

The body has since been disposed off by a team of health personnel from the council and the funeral gathering dispersed.

“We would like to appeal to the members of the public to be vigilant and if at all they see any symptoms and signs should rush to the nearest health center or cholera centre,” The Council stated.

“The general public should remember to keep their surroundings clean, always remember to wash their hands and sanitize them every time. Be health conscious.”
