NATIONAL MUSEUMS TO INSURE ARTS

The National Museums says it is engaging the insurance industry to insure arts and historical buildings.
Director Victoria Phiri says insuring arts is one way of protecting and preserving artefacts.
Ms. Phiri says insuring arts is a new concept in Zambia that must be explored as the industry has the potential to contribute to the growth of the economy.
She was speaking last night when Madison Insurance announced insurance cover to the national museum.
Ms. Phiri thanked Madison Life Insurance for its commitment towards the promotion and protection of art in the country.
And Madison Life Insurance Company Managing Director Agnes Chakonta said her firm is ready to partner with the national museum to promote arts.
Ms. Chakonta disclosed that for over 10 years the Madison Group of Companies has been working with Ian Murphy to promote the art of photography.
She said it is through art exhibitions that the country can explore the value of Art as an Economic driver.
