NALUMANGO : DON’T RELENT IN SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says there is need for Government not to relent in supporting the cause of young people even amid the Covid 19 pandemic.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says for this to be attained there is need for youth bodies, leaders to closely work through the networks on the continent and regional blocks to maintain communication on exploring new markets for goods and services as youths venture into businesses.

She said this in a speech read on her behalf by Youth Sport and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU at the African Union Youth day in Lusaka.

Mrs. NALUMANGO said there is also need for Government to revisit the topic of African youth’s contributions to the continental and global developments.

She noted that the new Government is aware that it is the youth that voted for change and will ensure their welfare is addressed effectively.

The Vice President further said the creation of the youth responsive ministries and 2022 budget allocations to employment programmes speak to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s commitment to improving the welfare of the youths.

And Small and Medium Enterprises Minister ELIAS MUBANGA has challenged the youths to embrace innovation because it is cardinal for development.

Mr. MUBANGA said for Africa to develop there is need for the young people to rise and participate in the affairs of the continent.

He has since urged the youths in the country to take advantage of the creation of the ministry of small scale and medium enterprises by partnering with it to enhance their participation in the economic development of the country.

And convener of the One United Africa BIMBO DARAMOLA praised Zambia for being an example to Africa and the World that elections can be held peacefully.

Mr. DARAMOLA said President HICHILEMA has shown that he is fixing everything that concerns the welfare of citizens following the proposed 2022 national budget and through the creation of the ministries which will support the young population that voted for

And Former Freedom Fighter VERNON MWAANGA during a virtual address said the young generation should not allow the spirit of pan Africanism to die.

Meanwhile, UNZA Vice Chancellor LUKE MUMBA said there is need to harness the participation of the young population so that they can enhance development.
