Mwinilunga Hospital Car Runs Over Chingola Man

A 69 year old of Chingola on Sunday died on the spot while four others are nursing serious injuries after they were hit by a motor vehicle belonging to Mwinilunga General Hospital in Muchinshi area.

Copperbelt Commissioner of Police Charity Katanga has identified the deceased as Yuta Kapelambi of Muchinshi area in Chingola District.

Ms Katanga has identified other accident victims as Tulumba, 54, Susan Namfukwe, 21, Musonda Mulenga, 25, and a juvenile Julius Kayumba aged 12 who sustained various injuries.

She has explained that the accident happened when driver of the motor vehicle registration number GRZ 613 CJ lost control of the vehicle and careered off the road hitting pedestrians.

However, a mini riot erupted but was quickly contained by alert police officers.

She said the body of the deceased is currently lying in Nchanga North Hospital with other accident victims admitted to the same hospital.

Meanwhile, Driver of the Motor Vehicle identified as Maxwell Chilemu, 49, has been arrested and charged for causing death by dangerous driving.
