MWIIMBU INSTRUCTS WILDLIFE OFFICERS TO RESUME WORK

By Angela Limwanya

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister, JACK MWIIMBU, has instructed officers under the Department of National Parks and Wildlife that staged a country-wide protest demanding improved conditions of service to resume work pending dialogue with the Government.

Mr MWIIMBU, who addressed the Wildlife Police officers in Livingstone this morning, has said the protest is unfortunate because it does not paint a good picture to the international community.

He has explained that the department is a direct link to visitors that come to the country and that the officer’s action this morning to deny entry into the Mosi Oa Tunya National park in Livingstone inconvenienced many tourists.

Mr. MWIIMBU has urged the workers to give the government time to resolve their issues after conclusive meetings.

This morning the Department of National Parks and Wildlife police officers staged a countrywide protest demanding improved conditions of service.

The officers in Livingstone only agreed to resume work after assurance from the Home Affairs Minister that he would personally ensure their matter is investigated and a permanent solution is reached.
