MWEPU RULED OUT DUE INJURY

By Wilson Mulinda

Chipolopolo midfielder ENOCK MWEPU has been ruled out of Zambia’s final 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mauritania and Tunisia due to injury.

MWEPU, who was amongst the 12 foreign based players summoned for the matches, is reported to have sustained a hamstring injury during last Saturday’s league fixture while on duty for his club Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chipolopolo Team Doctor GEORGE PHIRI has disclosed that MWEPU has joined EDWARD CHILUFYA on the list of those that pulled out of the team due to injury.

PHIRI says MWEPU is receiving treatment at his club’s camp in England.

The 23 year old was withdrawn at halftime in Brighton’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle on Saturday evening, an injury that did not look serious until assessment was made by medical staff.
