Mwape’s Lasses Back to Work after Morocco Test

The Zambia Women’s National Team Sunday morning held a recovery session at Terrain de football in Rabat following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Morocco in an international friendly.

As part of preparations for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament to run from July 2-23, the Copper Queens showed up at the training pitch for a recovery session under the guidance of coach Bruce Mwape.

Assistants Florence Mwila and Charity Nthala, as well as goalkeeper coach Yona Phiri were also on hand to take the Copper Queens through their paces at a sunny terrain de football.

On Saturday evening, Grace Chanda’s 77th minute close finish cancelled out Misozi Zulu’s own goal to ensure the two teams settle for a draw. The Copper Queens are expected to be involved in another set of friendlies before the tournament starts in under two weeks.

They have been drawn in Group B alongside Cameroon, Tunisia and Togo in Group B while hosts Morocco are in Group A with Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda.
