Muza, Nkwazi abandoned following Akapelwa’s decision to award the home side a penalty

A Zambian Super League match between Muza and Nkwazi was abandoned in the 82nd minute on Wednesday.

It was a highly charged match at Mazabuka’s Nakambala Stadium and things got out of order when Lusaka’s based referee Ronald Akapelwa awarded the home side a penalty in the 82nd minute.

The decision infuriated Nkwazi’s technical bench and players, and decided to pour their rage and displeasure on the hapless Akapelwa.

The protests continued for over 10 minutes.

Following further consultations, the match was abandoned with scores goalless.

Prior to kickoff, there were unsavoury scenes when the Zambia Police outfit were denied entry into the stadium.

Nkwazi players opted to climb over the wall fence and in the process their kit man identified as Mubiana was allegedly assaulted.

Kickoff was delayed by 28 minutes.

And when Akapelwa blew his whistle, there was a feeling inside the stadium that a moment of madness was due.
