The president for the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Mr. Felix Mutati has congratulated His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Her Honour Inonge Mutukwa Wina for their inauguration, for a fresh five year term, as President and Vice President respectively.

 

The MMD president called upon all Zambians, across political affiliations, to forge ahead in unison in order to improve the socio – economic conditions of the majority of citizens at an accelerated rate.

 

Mr. Mutati observed that the just ended election season aroused high expectations among citizens and that the country should now turn the page and focus on development, having spent the past four months on politics.Mr. Mutati also commended President Lungu for his humility and patience during the difficult month following the August 11 elections.

 

Mr. Mutati said that President Lungu demonstrated maturity and provided guidance to the nation through periods of violent protests in a few parts of the country right through the numerous court actions which were driven by the opposition.

 

The MMD president said that the nation was relieved now that the presidential election petition had been dispensed with and he hoped that the decisions of the courts will be respected by all parties involved.

 

Mr. Mutati also observed that President Lungu’s humility and patience over the past month is a stepping stone as he embarks on the difficult task of nation building following the divisive election of 11 August.

Mr. Mutati wished President Lungu God’s guidance throughout his term.
