Mutapa attributes COSAFA fine form to adequate preparations

Zambia Under-17 national team Coach Osward Mutapa has expressed happiness with the Junior Chipolopolo’s 7-nil win over Amajimbos of South Africa in a Group A encounter at the Ongoing 2019 COSAFA Men’s U-17 Championships in Malawi.
Speaking in an interview from Blantyre, Mutapa said it was a great game because his side had stuck to its game plan and it worked to their advantage.
“It was a great game, especially that we got maximum points and we also stuck to our game plan we scored early and denied South Africa space because we new their technical ability and closing up spaces helped us. it’s a great result for us,” Mutapa said.
He further said the results recorded was because of adequate preparations they had since May with the Help of the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) Technical Director Lyson Zulu.
“Football is all about preparations and we have always been saying let us prepare adequately for the tournament and our Technical Director was pushing for us, we did the selection in May and started monthly camping of a week in each month in June, July, August while in September and October we had two weeks camp so it tells from the results. If we want results to let’s prepare these boys adequately,” he said.
The Junior Chipolopolo who top Group A with 6 points from two games will wind up their last group match tomorrow 16th October, 2019 against hosts Malawi and Mutapa is not under pressure going into this fixture because the team is already through to the semi-finals and he could even use a different players just to give them chance to enjoy the game.
“I don’t think we are under pressure we are already playing the semi-final and we have a chance of even making a lot of changes so it’s just giving the boys a chance to come and enjoy.”
Rickson Ng’ambi scored a brace while Miguel Chaiwa, Joseph Banda, Moses Mulenga, Charles Mumba, and Peter Chikola chipped in with a goal each as Zambia humiliated South Africa 7-0.
