Finance and National Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE has appealed to outgoing World Bank Group President DAVID MALPASS to continue his push for the resolution of Zambia’s debt crisis.

Dr. MUSOKOTWANE has expressed optimism that the World Bank will continue stepping-in with resources for promoting private sector investments so that the country’s development programmes can be accelerated.

Speaking during an information exchange session with the World Bank leader at the Bank’s headquarters in Washington DC, which lasted over 45 minutes, Dr. MUSOKOTWANE described Mr. MALPASS as a “warrior for low-income-countries.

And Mr. MALPASS took the opportunity to congratulate Zambia for the progress made in implementing reforms “under very difficult circumstances.”

He reiterated his call for all of the country’s creditors to work in unison in resolving the debt treatment deadlock, once the Official Creditor Committee returns to the table next week.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
