Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule has called on traditional leaders in the area to help in the dissemination of information to the general public on the Covid 19 vaccine.

Mr. Mukungule says traditional leaders are a critical partner in the dissemination of information about the myths and misconceptions on the vaccine and keeping government accountable on its promise to ensure Zambians are vaccinated.

He was speaking during an orientation meeting for Traditional Leaders on the Covid 19 vaccine demand generation held in Mpika District.

Mr. MukungulE challenged traditional leaders to be seen as champions by getting vaccinated.

And Muchinga Provincial Health Director Nero Chilembo said once vaccination of seventy Percent of the targeted population is done, Covid 19 will be reduced into a user friendly disease that will co-exist with humans.

He further said traditional leaders are influential in the communities hence the need to use the influence to improve the vaccination drive for Muchinga Province.

Meanwhile, Chief Chikwa of Chama District said he has taken long to decide on whether to be vaccinated or not owing to numerous fake news he came across on social media.

He called on Government to find a lasting solution in curbing fake news and misinformation on social media.
