MUCHIMA TIPS STUDENTS ON LEADERSHIP

By Patricia Banda

Lands Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA has encouraged students in institutions of higher learning to be disciplined and work hard if they are to contribute to the country’s national development.

Mr. MUCHIMA says students should look to leaders like President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA a former student and others including himself now serving in Government as examples to what they can be in future if they work hard.

He was speaking at a public dialogue that was held in honour of Zambia’s founding President KENNETH KAUNDA organized by the Kenneth David Kaunda Foundation at the University of Zambia.

Mr. MUCHIMA says Dr. KAUNDA knew the value of education that is why he came up with an idea to have Zambia’ s first public University in 1965.

He said the current administration has taken over that idea from Dr. KAUNDA to offer free education from grades one to 12 so that more Zambians can be educated.

And Kenneth David Kaunda Foundation Chairperson BERNADETTE ZULU said the foundation is currently partnering with various stakeholders who are working on HIV /AIDS in hornor of the contributions done by Dr KAUNDA to the pandemic.

Meanwhile University of Zambia Acting Vice Chancellor ANNE SIKWIBELE said Dr. KAUNDA’s legacy will live on at the institution.

She said this through the Dean of Students JOHN MUNKOBWE who represented her.
