Mpulungu records over 200 suspected cases of measles

(ZANIS) Over 200 cases of suspected Measles have been recorded in Mpulungu district, Northern province.

Mpulungu District Health Director, FREDRICK MWILA has confirmed, saying the 206 cases have been recorded in different parts of Mpulungu.

Dr. MWILA says the latest figures are NOT part of the already confirmed 10 cases, recorded in the district.

He says health authorities have since embarked on a massive sensitisation campaign to alert people in the district to curb further spread of  the disease.

ZANIS reports that Dr. MWILA was speaking during the District Epidemic Preparedness Committee Meeting.

And Mpulungu District Commissioner, GEHARD SIKAZWE has encouraged stakeholders to support the measles vaccination campaign.
