As the FAZ/Eden University National League entered week 20 over the weekend and, all clubs were out to improve on the results they accumulated in the first half of the season to avoid relegation.
On paper one tie looked like only one result would be expected at the end of the match but little did we expect Mpulungu Harbour to play to a goalless draw against the log leaders, Konkola Blades.
Sharp Blades kept pushing for the all-important goal throughout the match but couldn’t break down the opposing defense as they remained solid to ensure they go back home with a point.
In the other game played on Sunday and broadcasted live on ZNBC TV 3, eleventh placed Zesco Malaiti Rangers were looking to complete a double over Ndola based side Gomes FC but were shocked by two goals from Walaza Tembo, Malaiti Rangers grabbed a late consolation goal through on-loan striker Thomas Mubita but it was little too late for a dramatic comeback.
In the other game played on Saturday, Kafue Celtic was back to winning ways as they collected a vital away win against the struggling National Assembly, the victory moved Kafue Celtic to third on the log behind joint log leaders Konkola Blades and Kansanshi Dynamos.
Struggling MUZA recorded their fifth win of the season as they eased past bottom-placed Zesco Shockers.
Zambia U-17 national team forward Ricky Ng’ambi and Bobo Angwenga scored a goal each to hand coach Mathews Phiri a winning debut as head coach of the Mazabuka based outfit.
At Woodlands Stadium, Two former Zambia Super League Champions, City of Lusaka and Nchanga Rangers faced off in an epic encounter.
At the game end the two teams played out to a 1-1 draw with Kunda Nkandu scoring for Rangers while Papy Kabungo scored for City Ya Moto.
