Mpika Health post burned

Zanis-Unknown people have burnt to ashes, a health post in Chief CHIKWANDA’s area in Mpika district.

This happened last night around 19 hours.

Mpika District Commissioner, DAVID SIAME has confirmed the incident to ZANIS, saying government is saddened.

Mr SIAME has explained that the health post, whose construction was funded by World Vision Zambia, used to service more than 6-thousand people in the area.

And Mpika District Health Director, RODRIGUEZ KAMUNGA has said the burning of the clinic is devastating to the Ministry of Health.

Dr KAMUNGA said the health post was providing basic services, such as antenatal and child immunisations, as well as COVID-19 vaccinations.

Meanwhile, Mpika Town Council Fire Brigade Incident Commander, JOHN MOFWE has said the fire fighters arrived at the scene around 20 hours, but it was late, as the fire had engulfed the entire building.
