MOTHER DROWNS DAUGHTER

By Lupindula Mwewa-A woman in Mwinilunga, North-Western province, has killed her 8-year-old daughter by drowning her in Lunga river.

Emeldah Lukama, aged 28, has since been arrested, after she was reported to the police by her mother on March 12, 2021.

North-Western Province Police Commissioner, Joel Njase has confirmed the incident to ZNBC news, saying the suspect is believed to have pushed her daughter into the river.

Mr Njase said when police rushed to the scene, they found the body of the deceased, Vera Lukama, wrapped in a mosquito net and tied to a tree near the banks of the river.

He explained that the body has been buried in a shallow grave, awaiting exhumation for post-mortem.
