MORE SECURITY PERSONNEL FOR MOZAMBIQUE

By Michael Kaumba:

Defense Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA says government will be sending additional security personnel to Mozambique following the de-escalation of the security situation in that country.

Mr. LUFUMA says SADC has requested for peacekeepers to be deployed to Mozambique and government will fulfill its obligation to the regional body.

He says under the peace keeping responsibility to Mozambique, Zambia will also send officers from the Zambia Police, the Zambia Correctional Service and the Zambia National Service.

Mr. LUFUMA has told ZNBC News in MPULUNGU district that Zambia has a duty to ensure that there is peace in the region and will do its part to ensure that the status is sustained.

The minister is in MPULUNGU to officiate at the pass out parade of over three hundred Special Forces.
