MORE LOAD SHEDDING-ZESCO

By Cecilia Mukonkela-Zesco’s Kafue Gorge Power Station Operations Manager Lioko Sitali says the country is likely to experience more schedules of load shedding due to low water levels at the two reservoirs at Kafue Gorge and Itezhi-Tezhi dams.Mr Sitali says the low water levels at Kafue Gorge dam have reduced power generation from its capacity of 990 Mega Watts to an average distribution of 700 Mega Watts.Mr Sitali said this during a tour of Kafue Gorge Power Station by the Energy Regulation Board team to monitor the operations of the Power Station. He says t effects of the low water levels at Kafue Gorge have led to postponement of some projects to maximize power generation.Meanwhile, Energy Regulations Board Engineer- Electricity Eric Musama has urged all consumers to minimise the use of Electricity to help the corporation sustain distribution of power. He has emphasised that use of alternatives like solar energy, and energy saving bulbs assist the power utility company to save Electricity.
