Mob Pounces On 37 Year Old Suspected Witch

A MOB beat up a 37-year-old woman they found at a graveyard in Senama Township in Mansa.
The irate residents accused the woman of practising witchcraft and were on the verge of burning her when police came to her rescue.

The woman, identified as Annie Musonda, was beaten into unconsciousness around 17:00 hours by the residents, who said she had charms.
She was admitted to Mansa General Hospital for treatment of a deep cut on the forehead, various body injuries and a dislocated elbow.
Mansa General Hospital public relations officer Smart Malama confirmed having attended to Musonda, saying: “We have attended to a woman named Annie Musonda of Musenga area who was beaten up by an angry mob.”
