However, despite putting up an improved performance, the swimming quartet did not qualify to the semi-finals of the events yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Rugby Sevens team also had an improved performance on day two of the Commonwealth Games.

The Rugby Sevens team avoided heavy defeats after losing 24-12 to Canada and 19-7 to Tonga respectively.

And speaking in an interview, Zambia Rugby Union General Secretary MUSUNKA SILUNGWE is optimistic the team will further improve performance at the games.

SILUNGWE says following heavy defeats on the first day of the Commonwealth Games to FIJI and WALES, the side played well on day two.

And, Team Captain ISRAEL KALUMBA, has called for more high profile games with good sides if the standards of Rugby are to improve in Zambia.

KALUMBA observed that his side lack exposure to playing at very high level.
