Miti Warns Cheating Civil Servants

Government has warned that it will fire civil servants working in urban areas while drawing salaries from rural station.Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti has noted that such officers have continued depriving rural areas of the much-needed manpower.Dr. Miti says the situation of officers running away from rural has also given an increase in the number of ghost workers on the payroll.The Secretary to the Cabinet has further directed the Public Service Management Division and Smart Zambia Institute to immediately clean up ghost workers from the payroll.Dr. Miti said this in his maiden speech during the Fourth Management meeting of Permanent Secretaries this morning.Meanwhile the 90-day travel ban for permanent secretaries which was introduced in June this year has been extended until further notice.Dr. Miti said the ban which was due to expire on August 31st has been extended to enable Government to reduce on expenditure.
