Miseshi Ward Residents Want Absentee Councillor Suspended

Kitwe’s Miseshi Ward residents have petitioned the council to suspend their councillor for being absent from the ward for over four months.

Douglas Moyo has been off radar raising queries from the electorates in his ward.

The residents have sought the intervention of the council to have him suspended or expelled but they have hit a brick wall as he has not missed the number of meetings that require disciplinary action to be instituted.

The residents have petition the council and also seek the intervention of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Kitwe Town Clerk Bournwell Luanga said Moyo has only missed one council meeting so it would be hard to suspend him.

And Moyo said he is away on business in South Africa and will return soon.’
