Ministry of Local Govt launches Service Charter

Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA has urged the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to efficiently manage the Constituency Development Fund -CDF- as it is a flagship developmental programme for Government.

Mr. KANGWA says implementing CDF will enhance the delivery of public services.

He says the Ministry should position itself in a way that will make it easy to ably serve the public.

Mr. KANGWA said his in a speech read for him by Permanent Secretary at the Public Service Management Division –PSMD- KUSOBILE KAMWAMBI.

This was during the launch of the Service Charter for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

And Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO advised the public to avoid giving gifts and other inducement in exchange for a service.

Mr. NKOMBO said citizens should not use corruption to entice civil servants in the execution of public services.

In a speech read for him by Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU, Mr. NKOMBO said the newly launched Service Charter will help staff at the Ministry to provide a service in a faster and efficient way.

Meanwhile, Chongwe Town Clerk DAMSON MUKWATO said the Service Charter will help local authorities in the implementation of the devolution of power.

And Zambia Institute of Planners President BUSIKU SULWE said the coming of the Service Charter for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development will help in the speedy implementation of developmental projects.
