MINES TOLD TO PLANT TREES

By Tamara Muswala

Government has challenged mining companies operating in the country to
partner with government and protect the country’s forests.

Minister of Green Economy and Environment COLLINS NZOVU says trees
constitute the largest part of the earth and are important to the
survival of the humans and animals.

He has encouraged mining firms to plant trees and help mitigate the
effects of climate change even as they increase copper production.

Mr. NZOVU was speaking during the launch of the 2023 national tree planting
exercise under the theme plant a tree and save the earth.

And FQM Trident General Manager JUNIOR KEYSER said the mining company
seeks to mine in the most responsible way possible to preserve the environment.
