Miles Sampa Applies for Mayoral Seat on PF Ticket

Former Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa has officially filed his application for adoption for the vacant Lusaka Mayor position on the Patriotic Front ticket.

Sampa who is also the Matero Constituency former Member of Parliament joins seven other candidates that have formally applied for the mayoral seat that fell vacant after incumbent Wilson Kalumba died.

And Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila says that the party has received seven applications with 15 more expected by the end of the day.

Mwila said that the numbers were expected to swell over 20 by Friday as more members continued to court the party’s support for the seat.

Earlier today former Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata declared his intentions to contest the vacant seat after having re-joined the ruling Patriotic Front.

The Electoral Commission has set July 26 as the date for elections for the Lusaka Mayor.
