Micho talks qualities players need to get Chipolopolo call ups

Zambia national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojeviç on Saturday morning outlined a detailed plan of his work with the Copper Bullets during and after the Coronavirus epidemic.

Micho who was appointed Chipolopolo coach in January yesterday revealed what he will be looking for in players during Diamond TV’s Sports Cafe program.

The former Uganda Cranes boss says he has identified seven key factors that will help him achieve his ambition for the 2022 World Cup dream which immediately starts with the 2020 CHAN tournament and 2021 AFCON assignments.

Key to his plan is Mental strength, Physical strength, Technical ability, Tactical execution ability, Players ambitious enough to achieve both personal dream & glory for mother Zambia.

Micho went on to say that Experienced players will need to show desire & dedication to guide young talented players.

The Serb revealed that he will demand and inject national pride and passion in players called for duty.

Micho is expected to guide Zambia to their first AFCON appearance in five years after missing out on the 2017 and 2019 editions.

The former Orlando Pirates boss is however not new to such situations having guided Uganda after a 38-year-old jinx to qualify for the biggest continental football fiesta – the 2017 African Cup of Nations where they only managed a point as they held Mali to a 1-1 draw.

Overall His tenure as Uganda head coach was a big success as Uganda attained their best ever position on the FIFA rankings, 62nd out of the 209 FIFA Member Associations in January 2016.

He has over 18 years experience of working in African football and since his arrival in Africa as a budding coach back in 2001 he has won five championships in Uganda, eight in Ethiopia and one title each in Tanzania, Sudan and Egypt, which adds up to 16.

Currently, football is on hold due to the worldwide outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.
