Meet Mr reliable – Allan Kapila

He dorns the shirt Number 15 for the newly crowned Super Division champions Red Arrows.

Much has been said about his central defensive partner side kick Tresor Yambayamba Tshibwabwa.

And very little about the former Lumwana Radiants skipper Allan Kapila.

Kapila is extremely reliable at the back and as since switching from Radiants to Arrows.

Ahead of the Absa Bank ZambiaAbsa sponsored K4 million rich Absa Cup final between Arrows and newly confirmed top flight entrants Napsa Stars, Kapila is preparing silently for his biggest match todate.

“It’s our time, we are preparing to win,” he told me.

At the pre-match briefing, Napsa Stars coach Perry Mutapa described Kapila’s centre back partner Tshibwabwa as “the best defender in Zambia.”

Some weeks earlier, I spoke to Perry’s elder brother Osward Mutapa who rates Kapila highly.

“Kapila for me is one player who can even contribute to the national team, he is very strong and disciplined at the back,” the Arrows Technical Advisor told me when talked about Zambian defenders in the league.

The 27-year-old Kapila was born at Mansa General Hospital and credits his rise to Minning Rangers.

The same club that produced Emmanuel Mbola.

The lad who comes from a family of 7 (two girls and 5 boys) models his game after PSG defender Sergio Ramos.

BEST MATCH THIS SEASON?

Against ZESCO United we won 1-0. It was a tough game defensively but we kept a clean sheet against a team with fantastic attacking players. Remember, they were defending champions of the Super League. So it was not easy but thank God we came out on top.

TOUGHEST STRIKERS IN THE LEAGUE?

That has to be Chamanga James . He has won the Africa Cup and achieved so many things but remains a true professional and a great example and inspiration to young players.

Then there is also Moses Favour Phiri very tricky to play against.

FAVOURITE FOOD?

Nshima, am Zambian, we love ubwali. Nshima with fish and chibwachibwa ( No wonder he gels with Tresor Tshibwabwa 😂🤣😋)

FAVOURITE PRE-MATCH ROUTINE?

Listening to music…Peace Preachers and watching Sergio Ramos videos

ABSA CUP FINAL PREDICTION?

Definitely, we are winning. It’s our time.

THAT’S Allan “Mr RELIABLE” Kapila.

See him in the Absa Cup final tomorrow at Nkoloma Stadium.
