MBABALA FLOODS WASH AWAY 6 BRIDGES

About 6 bridges have been washed away in Mbabala Constituency in Choma District, Southern Province.

Mbabala Member of parliament JOSEPH MUSANJE says this follows a heavy down pour experienced in the last 24 hours.

Mr. MUSANJE says some fields and gardens are water logged while others have had all crops destroyed due to floods.

The Area Member of parliament has called for immediate response from the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit – DMMU-.

Among the bridges that have been washed away are Bulebo to Muyanda bridge, Nefwe Bridge on Macha to Chikanta Road, Chaambwa Bridge on Macha to Kabimba area, Hamwaba Bridge connecting lupata area and Mangunza to Kachenje Bridge among others.

In December last year, flash flood hit Mbabala area of Choma killing atleast people.
One man who spent hours hanging on to a tree as an over-flooded river ragged below him was rescued by members of the public.
