Mayukwayukwa refugee settlement financially constrained

By Ruth Chayinda-

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees -UNHCR- has proposed to government to consider consolidating the funding to the Mayukwayukwa and Meheba refugee settlement as a way of reducing financial constraints.

UNHCR Head of Kaoma Field Unit RICHARD KAKOOZA says the 56 year old Mayukwayukwa refugee settlement is not receiving much donor funds.

Mr. KAKOOZA says the consolidation plan has already been presented but awaiting endorsement by government.

Briefing Journalists in Kaoma, Mr. KAKOOZA said the UNHCR has also been advocating for freedom of movement for the refugees so that they can seek for opportunities across the country.
