Zambia Women’s National Team influential midfielder Mary Mwakapila has urged the fans, friends, and family to stay strong, pray, and also to support the Copper Queens during these difficult times of Covid-19.

Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew from Paris, France shortly before her departure for Tel Aviv in Israel, Mwakapila who is fondly known as RTSA The Magical in a low and sad tone said she doesn’t have enough strength to say a lot of things because she wanted everyone to leave as a team from Chile were some members of the Copper Queens are remaining in that country awaiting Covid-19 results which are expected to be out in the next 48hours.

“A soldier never leaves the fellows behind. But in our situation, I can’t change anything but only believing in my able God he knows well.”

“I am going back to my Base with a sad heart, dear fans, family, and friends please pray for Our Team! My Team! Your team! Copper Queens through these hard times I love you. Proudly Zambian,” Mwakapila said.

After undergoing the mandatory 14-day Quarantine period, regrettably, 10 members of the squad remained behind for another three days as they await final clearance after they tested positive for Covid-19 while some members were given Greenlight to travel and are already In transit to their respective bases.

The Copper Queens traveled to Chile for a 2-friendly series matches against La Roja Femenina on November 30 and December 1, 2020.

They played their first match on November 30 edging the home country 2-1 coming from behind thanks to a goal each from the Captain of the side Barbara Banda and Racheal Nachula while Chile scored through Karen Araya.

The second game which was scheduled to be played at The National Stadium failed to kick-off owing to 4 players testing to Covid-19 with another round of tests pushing the numbers to 7 positive cases recorded in the team so the game had to be canceled as per protocol in relation to health guidelines in Chile and the whole entourage had to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine period at the Torremayor Hotel in Santiago.
