By Paul Shalala

Small and Medium Enterprises Minister ELIAS MUBANGA has called for value addition to mangoes and cassava which are grown in abundance in Luapula Province.

Mr. MUBANGA says  mangoes and cassava should not go to waste every year because no value is derived from them.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Luapula Province Permanent Secretary MIGHTY MUMBA in Mansa , Mr. MUBANGA said once he commissions the Mansa Industrial Yard, value addition will be prioritised in the region.

He said from Mango, juices can be made and help create jobs and alleviate poverty.

Mr. MUBANGA said value addition will also help in reducing wastage of food.

He also said  the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission -CEEC will support all entrepreneurs who will express interest in venturing in value addition.

The Mansa Industrial Yard is one of the eight that government is building across the country under the CEEC.

The industrial yards are expected to help boost local industries in the respective provinces and promote value addition.
