Majapa drafted into U-23 squad for Sierra Leone return leg

Zambia U-23 National team head coach Oswald Mutapa has drafted COSAFA U-20 Championship player of the tournament Charles Majapa Mumba into his squad ahead of Saturday’s return leg against Sierra Leone. 

Mumba joins the team preparing to seal their qualification to the final round of qualifiers after playing to a 1-1 draw away in Monrovia, Liberia. 

Mumba was influential for the Zambia U-20 national team as they cruised to the COSAFA title and on the way sealing qualification for the U-20 AFCON set for Egypt in 2023. 

Mumba was named the player of the match in the final,  playing in all of Zambia’s five games at the tournament and being crowned the best player of the tournament. 

Mumba was supposed to join the squad with his Atletico Lusaka teammate Kings Mutandwa who unfortunately is nursing an Injury he suffered at COSAFA. 

The Young Copper Bullets will host Sierra Leone in the return leg on October 29th at the National Heroes Stadium.

Tickets for the match are on sale at K20 North, South Wings, K50 East, K100 West, K150 VIP and K1,000 VVIP at Webtickets Omega Mall, Northmead.

The winner over both legs will play Egypt or Eswatini in the final qualifying round next March.
