MAIZE FARMERS TOLD TO WAIT FOR GOVT PRICE

(ZANIS) Copperbelt Provinces Minister ELISHA MATAMBO has urged farmers not to sell their maize harvest to private buyers but wait for government to give a reasonable price that will benefit them.

Mr. MATAMBO says during the harvest period, farmers are usually convinced to sell their maize at a cheaper price with no meaningful profit.

He says farmers should be patient as government is still working out a reasonable price that helps them to plough back to their farming business.

Mr MATAMBO said this during the commemoration of the Africa Day held at the freedom park in Ndola today.

And Zambia Police Chaplin FLOYD CHINYANTA said Zambia and Africa at large must learn how to produce enough for the country to attain food security.

And Ndola District freedom fighter JULIUS SINKALA has encouraged young people to work hard to change the economic status of the country.

Mr. SINKALA said the country has all the resources to boost the economy but needs serious minded people to make use of the resources.
