Mafwenta heads to the USA as the Czech Republic awaits

Former Zambia U-20 defender Golden Mafwenta is set to leave for the United States of America over the weekend.

Mafwenta will join Utah based Real Monarchs which is a professional soccer club playing in the MLS Next Pro, a third division league of American soccer.

The team is owned by, and operates as the reserve team of, the Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake.

The ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal that Mafwenta will spend a season at Real Monarchs on loan ahead of his move to the Czech Republic.

The former Zanaco and Buildcon young defensive kingpin has penned a four year deal with MFK Vyškov, A team that campaigns in the Czech National Football League, the second level of Czech football the ZamFoot Crew understands.

Mafwenta was part of the Zambia U-20 national team that took part in the 2020 U-20 COSAFA championship in South Africa making a central defensive pairing with Nchanga Rangers’ Mathews Chabala.

Mafwenta is also on the fringes of the senior national team having received a handful of call ups under Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević.
