LWSC reduces water tarrifs for Matero township residents

Patricia Banda-The Lusaka Water and Sewage Company has reduced water tariff for residents of Lusaka’s Matero compound by 6 point 8 Million Kwacha.

Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director JONATHAN KAMPATA says over six thousand residents of Matero have benefited from the gesture.

He says this was after President EDGAR LUNGU directed the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation and Environmental Protections to consider the plight of the resident in Matero who had not received a service for some time.

The residents of Matero had challenges of erratic water supply and yet the utility company was still billing them.

And Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister RAPHAEL NAKACHINDA said he is happy that the directive by President LUNGU has been executed

Mr NAKACHINDA said this when he visited Matero township and found the houses that did not have water are now able to receive water.

The Minister had earlier on visited the Lusaka Sanitation Programme in the light industrial area where works are been carried out by the contractor Synohydro.
