Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has warned people encroaching and dumping garbage into the Bombay drainage to stop immediately.
Mr. Lusambo says all those encroaching on the drainage will be prosecuted and have their structures demolished.
He has since called on the Lusaka city council to intensify patrols and bring anyone who will be found indiscriminately throwing garbage to book.
Mr. Lusambo says government is spending Billions of Kwacha to develop the nation through its various projects and that its every citizen’s responsibility to safeguard public property.
He said this today when he toured the Bombay drainage near garden and Chipata townships in Lusaka to check on its status before the heavy downpour starts.
Meanwhile, the Minister has closed two unlicensed liquor stores in Chipata compound which he found operating before 10:00 hours contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Mr. Lusambo has since appealed to the Lusaka city council to inspect all liquor stores around Lusaka and regulate their working hours.
