LUSAKA TOPS IN COVID-19 CASES

Lusaka has continued to record more COVID-19 cases, ahead of other provinces, as the country’s cumulative number of cases near the 60,000 mark.

In the last 24 hours, Lusaka has recorded 391 cases.

This is part of the 1,514 new COVID-19 recorded countrywide.

This has taken the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases to 59,003, since the disease was first recorded in Zambia.

The country has also recorded eight COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, the lowest in the last two weeks, taking to 812, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.

Health Minister, Jonas Chanda has announced these figures today in Lusaka, during the routine COVID-19 briefing.

Dr Chanda has explained that the deaths were recorded in Lusaka, Copperbelt, Eastern, southern and Northern provinces.

Meanwhile, Dr Chanda said the Ministry of Health is continuously monitoring the compliance levels to COVID-19 protocols in schools.

The Minister has warned that his Ministry will not hesitate to shut-down any learning institution, which will be found not adhering to the COVID-19 prevention measures.
