Lusaka Province PS Suspended in K1 Million Scandal

The scandals around civil servants misappropriating funds has extended to the Lusaka Province office with Deputy Permanent Secretary Josephat Lombe suspended alongside some accounts staff.

The scandal revolves around irregular award of allowances that exceeds their entitlement with the total sum coming to almost K1 million.

Lombe has been sent home pending investigations with other personnel from accounts following the scandal.

The scandal is the latest involving civil servants with the Ministry of General Education also sucked with Permanent Secretary Henry Tukombe suspended alongside a host of junior staff.

Eighty members of staff at the Ministry of General Education have been suspended for theft of donor funds.

Government is still grappling with the Social Cash Transfer Funds scandal that has left the Community Development Minister Emerine Kabanshi fired.

President Edgar Lungu has sent the law enforcement agencies on alert to clean up thieving civil servants.
