LUSAKA-NDOLA ROAD STATE WORRIES RTSA

By Ephraim Chiluba-The Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- is concerned with the bad state of the Lusaka-Ndola road.

RTSA board chairperson CORNELIUS CHIPOMA says the stretch has developed ridges that are beyond what is allowed to support road safety standards.

Dr. CHIPOMA says if not corrected, the stretch may continue recording high numbers of accidents.

He has attributed the road deterioration to frequent traffic stoppages due to undesignated check points, saying there is need to engage the Ministry of Home Affairs to come up with corresponding solutions.

Dr. CHIPOMA added that motorists must drive cautiously to avoid accidents as a result of failure to negotiate.

He was speaking when he led a team of RTSA board members and other officers on a review of the Lusaka-Ndola road.

And Dr. CHIPOMA has noted that a number of traders at Ten Miles and other spots are conducting businesses too close to the busy road, a situation that has put their lives at high risk in case of vehicles losing control.
