LUSAKA MAN NABBED FOR HARBOURING 14 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

The Department of Immigration has arrested a Lusaka resident for harbouring, aiding and abetting 14 foreign nationals.

JOHN MUKULAMA, 31, a caretaker of 12 miles area in Chibombo District was apprehended on Friday December 9, 2022 .

This was after Immigration Officers found him habouring 8 Ethiopians and 6 Somalis at a partially completed house in 12 Miles.

In a statement issued to ZNBC by Immigration Department Acting Public Relations Officer JOSEPHINE MALAMBO, the foreign nationals were discovered by the owner of the house where they were being kept by the caretaker Mr. MUKULAMA and a tenant Mrs Doreen Mwanza.

The owner of the house has explained to the immigration department that she became concerned when Mr. MUKULAMA the caretaker denied her access to the house, prompting her to peep through the window after which she reported to the matter to the department.

Mr. MUKULAMA has since been charged and is currently detained pending court appearance, while the foreign nationals are being kept at Mwembeshi Correctional Facility pending further investigations while the tenant Mrs Mwanza is on the run.
