LUNGU’S BODY GUARD NABBED

Former President EDGAR LUNGU’s Aide De Camp CHISANGA CHANDA has been arrested.

Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA says Mr. CHANDA who is also a Deputy Commissioner of Police has been charged for the alleged offence of being an accessory to a felony.

This is Contrary to Sections 397 sub section One and 398 of the Penal Code Act Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mr. HAMOONGA told ZNBC news in a statement that Mr. CHANDA on unknown dates, but between 1st October, 2019 and 4th February, 2022 in Lusaka Province received or assisted a wanted suspect.

And speaking to journalists at woodlands Police Station, Mr. CHANDA’s Lawyer MAKEBI ZULU said his client is being investigated over a matter concerning a suspect involved in a murder case, who has since made himself available to the Police.

Mr. ZULU said it is unfortunate that the police recorded a warn and caution statement from Mr. CHANDA without the presence of his lawyer.

Some Patriotic Front senior Members who include MUTOTWE KAFWAYA, ANTONIO MWANZA and RAPHAEL NAKACINDA were at Woodlands Police Station to offer solidarity to Mr. CHANDA.
