Lungu,HH ‘Despised The Commonwealth Meeting’

Republican Progressive Party(RPP) vice  president Leslie Chikuse says  President Edgar Lungu and his bitter rival Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) looked down on an indaba

between Commonwealth Envoy Ibrahim Gambari and Political Parties leaders at Intercontinental Hotel by sending junior officers to represent them.

President Lungu and Hichilema were represented by a PF Lusaka Province Chairperson and UPND Media Director respectively.

Chikuse says this was lack of respect for the  distinguished  meeting that was attended by Chief Executives.

Chikuse said even if President Lungu and Hakainde Hichilema were too busy, making money there is no way that they could have sent juniors who have no clear understanding about the controversy surrounding the  last  disputed elections.

He said Secretary  Generals of both political parties could have added value to the occasion.

Chikuse said it is this lack of seriousness by President Lungu and Hichilema that is making  key players in the dialogue process doubt whether the two will bury the past and forge ahead.

“We expected to see ECL and HH at the meeting called by the Commonwealth at the Intercontinental Hotel but the two leaders chose to insult us by sending their juniors to represent them at  such an important event yet they are guilty of agitating political tension and putting us in a  political mess we are in,” Chikuse said, “Their representatives did not represent them well as they gave no contribution worth remembering on the topic of agenda. The PF guy came with some written notes.”

Chikuse said the UPND lost an opportunity to prove their case before Commonwealth saying: “what really do you want? Are you claiming that you won the elections? by how many percent or you want a rerun because Chagwa did not reach 50+1%.”

At the same meeting Patriots for Economic Progress(PeP) Sean Tembo walked out on Cambari, complaining that the Indaba was not inclusive.

4th Revolution Party leader Eric Chanda cried for fresh elections as a foundation for dialogue.

He begged the PF regime to drop his ‘Lungu is a play boy’ case if they want him to participate in the dialogue process.
